COUNTRY WEEK CRICKET

mmm aw otago meet VHWENT PLAYS SMITH OTAfiO Country cricket week was continued to-day with two matches at the North Ground, an Otago eleven playing a Southland side on the central wicket, and South Otago meeting_ a Vincent team on the adjoining wicket. The ground had made a good recovery after heavy rain, .but the bowlers in both games had the advantage of two rather tricky wickets. The Southland team contains some good batting material, and though the uncompleted total of 148 runs rather flattered the local attack, three individualists of the visiting eleven stood out, Spence particularly impressing as a very solid batsman.
