Mr Anthony Eden said he was awaiting a report from the British Ambassador at Rio de Janeiro, who had been instructed to urge reconsideration of the position, particularly in view of the deplorable effect that such unilateral action created in London. Notice has been given to ask the President of the Board of Trade if he would prepare a scheme for AngloBraziliau clearing so that if the proposals by the Brazilian Government in respect of debt default are not of such a ■ kind as British negotiators can recommend for acceptance, Anglo-Bra-ziliau clearing may bo ready for the protection of £262,000,000. '
