WAITAKI HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the above board was held yesterday. There were present the chairman (Mr W. Forrester), Mesdafnes T. A. Munro and J. M. Forrester, Messrs J. Rodman, A. M'lnnes, D. J. Ross, N. H. Colquhoun, and Dr Hodgkiss. The Hawera Hospital Board forwarded a letter, stating that owing to the increased costs due to the institution of the 40-hour week, consideration was being given to the question of raising maintenance charges, and asking for particulars regarding the patients’ fees.—Tho secretary was instructed to forward the information. Dr Bevan Brown advised that he would he returning to Oamarn about December 1. Miss A. Blackie wrote accepting the appointment as masseuse, but advised that she could not commence duties until November 27. Miss Spedding advised that she would he available to relieve Miss Blackie until she could commence duties.—Decided to accept Miss Spedding’s offer. Miss Mavis H. Scott applied for the temporary position of relieving sister at the Public Hospital for 10 months from January.—Agreed to. _ Nurse Warring tendered her resignation from the nursing staff.— Accepted with regret. The Joint Council of the Order of St. John asked for a donation for the Far Fast Relief Fund.—Received. Appreciation was expressed of the efforts of the Fire Brigade in extin-
guishing a grass fire when it got out of control near the hospital, and the secretary was instructed to forward, a letter of thanks. Accounts totalling £1,755 14s were passed for payment. The tender of Mr M. J. Hanlev (£3l) for renovations to the hospital was accepted.
