i—Ministerial.— The Postmaster-General (Hon. F* Jones) has been engaged on depart* mental business since his arrival in Dun* edin. Yesterday afternoon he paid a visit of inspection to Messrs Smith andSmith’s ipaint factory, and this morning visited Sargood’s boot factory. Hon. P. Waite, M.L.C., was a passenger for Wellington by the through express to-day. . • ■ _ T , Mr G. R. Ritchie left to-day for Wellington to attend a meeting of directors of the Union Steam Ship Company. Mr C. T. Lee, general secretary of the D.1.C., is oh a visit to Wanganui. Mr J. J. W. Pollard, organiser of the South Island Tourist Association* returned to Christchurch to-day. Mr C. M. Bruce, of Dalgety and Co.*, left to-day for Wellington. Mr James Hogg travelled by the sec* ond express to-day on his way to Wei* lington. Mr W. Easton was a passenger for, Wellington by to-day’s through express* Mr G. P. M’Kellar left for Wellington by the second, express to-day. Mr A. L. Salmond war appointed honorary architect .to the Dunedin? Amenities Society at yesterday’s meet* ing of the committee. _ The Right Rev. Dr Liston, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, who has been attending the golden jubilee celebrations of St. Mary’s, Mosgiel, returned to Auckland by air to-day. Mr J. Douglas, assistant engineer atj the Dunedin gasworks, who is leaving after 25 years’ service to take up a. \ position with the Masterton Gas l)e* partment as manager and engineer, was met by the works staff yesterday afternoon and presented with a canteen of! cutlery. Or W. A. Scott, chairman of the Gas Committee, associated with' Mr! H. Horrooks, gas engineer, referred to Mr Douglas’s long years of service, and wished him every success in- his new position.
