UNSETTLED—SCATTERED RAINS The following weather forecast wag issued at noon by the Meteorological Office* Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Fort Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— The recent northern cyclone hae practically filled up, but a fresh depression of the westerly type is now approaching across the Tasman Sea. Forecast:! Moderate to strong north-west to westerly winds, backing at times to southwesterly. Weather, cloudy and unsettled, with scattered rain probable* Seas, rather rough to rough. OVERCAST, BUT WARM. Though Saturday was marred by a cold north-easterly breeze, yesterday, was warm and sunny in Dunedin. This morning was dull and overcast, though temperatures were §till at a high level, while there was a slight southerly breeze. Barometric pressure was steady at noon at 29.65 in, while the respective maximum and minimum thermometer readings at the Gardens were 63deg and 58deg at 9 o’clock. Over periods of 24 hours on Saturday and yesterday the temperature registrations were 63.2 deg and 47deg, and 68.3 deg and 53.6 deg.
