WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR TO FINE The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— The cyclone which has been located in the North Tasman Sea during, the past few days is now centred just west of Cape Marina Van Diemen, and appears to be losing intensity. An area of relatively high pressure is crossing the South Island, but a fresh depression is located over the South-west Tasman. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds, with north-easterlies prevailing. Weather mainly fair to fine. Temperatures moderate. • Seas slight t« moderate. FINE, BUT DULL. Light, scattered showers of rain fell yesterday afternoon and evening, this morning breaking fine but dull, with temperatures much lower than on Friday at the same time. Noon found the barometer registering a rising pressure of 30.05 in in the city, while at 9 a.m. the thermometer indicated 53 and 51.5 deg. as the respective maximum and minimum . readings, at the Gardena. Only a slight southerly breeze disturbed the atmosphere this morning. Temperatures yesterday over a period of 24 hours were 69 and 47.1 deg.
