'AFTER THE THIN MAN'

COKING TO THE EMPIRE Everybody remembers William Powell, Myrna Loy, and Asia in their former hit—‘ The Thin Man ’—and in ‘ After the Thin Man ’ filmgoers have a picture that will run the original a close race for popularity. ‘ After the Thin. Man ’ will commence its local season at the Empire on Friday next. William Powell and Myrna Loy are the merriest and most understanding couple ever - pictured on the screen, and their marital adventures in this new film involve them in a problem of solving dark crime mysteries. No sooner do they return to their home in San Francisco from New York than they are plunged right into the depths of a whirlpool of excitement, which takes them from the aristocratic atmosphere of Nob Hill to Chinatown. Ibis film, besides having the same stars, also has the same director and the same author as ‘ The Thin Man.’ There is a sparkling cast of favourites, including James Stewart, Elisa Landi, Joseph Calleia, and Jessie Ralph. Laughter and thrills are cleverly interwoven in the plot, in which William Powell, as the suave detective, excels his former performance. “ That dog of theirs,” Asta, the intelligent wire-haired terrier, steals many of the laughs as the faithful hound.
