London’s fire brigade, which answers an average of 100 calls each week, is now 2,000 strong. One hundred year* ago it consisted of only 80 men. Oysters are now being bred successfully in tanks in England, after, experiments carried out by the, Ministry of Agriculture continuously since 1919, About 15,000 bags of sugar were destroyed in a fire at a refinery belonging to Leach’s Argentine Estates Limited at Jujay, Argentina.
