DEBATE OH BROADCASTING BILL [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, November 12. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 jp.ni. The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill was read a first and a second time and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. Moving tjje second reading of the Broadcasting Amendment Bill, the Leader of the Council (Hon. M. Fagan) referred to the development of broadcasting in New Zealand, and quoted figures to Show that the number of licenses in the country was approximately 270,000, which meant that New Zealand was the fourth country in the world, in the density of its radio sets. Hon. F. Waite referred to the Government control of broadcasting, and said he wanted to register the protest of the Farmers’ Union, which had been prevented from stating its views over the air. Other speakers all supported! the Bill, and the debate was then adjourned until next Tuesday.
