DRUIDISM

The fortnightly meeting of Linden Lodge was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Roslyn, A.l), Bro. H. Tyrrell presiding over a good attendance of members. Correspondence included letters from the Grand Lodge regarding the efficiency shield, and it was decided to send congratulations to tho winners, Lily of tho Valley Lodge. Ivanhoo Lodge wrote confirming next lodge night in Linden for the challenge games for tho euchre shield. Tho lodge discussed tho attendance problem, and a committee was formed to report on the matter. Bro. Adam Fraser reported on behalf of tho Social and Dance Committee. The Cricket Committee has received several challenges for games, and it is hoped to start soon. Bro. Wilson, of Ivanhoo, was a welcome visitor, and announced himself as a candidate for the office of D.P.

The one-thousandth meeting of tho Lily of the Valley Lodge, No. 11, U. was held on Wednesday in the Albany Street Hall. Arch Druid Bro. Alex. Fowler presided over a very representative attendance of brethren. Besides being an anniversary meeting, the lodge was presented with the General Efficiency Shield. _ Amongst the large attendance of visitors tho following were present:—P.G.P. Bro. T. Johnston and Grand Lodge Officers with the Board of Management, P.G.P. Bro. W. Ruston, P.G.G. Bro. Ben Reid, P.D.P. Bro. A. Rundle, P.D.P. Bro. J. Patterson, P.D.P. Bro. G. Wilson, D.P Bro. Shepherd, of No. 1 District, D.P. Bro. T. Clark, of No. 2 District, and Arch Druids_ and members of the various lodges in both districts. The Secretary read many congratulatory letters _ from sister lodges on Lily’s success in the recent efficiency competition. Secretary Bro. A R. Rankin read a remit to come before tho quaterly meeting. A.D. Bro. Fowler reported on attending the entertainment of the _ Foresters, Court Woodlands Pride, and V. Bro. S. M'Bratney on the lodge’s visit to Enterprise Lodge. P.G.P. Bro. T. Johnston apologised for the absence of tho Grand President, Bro. Young, and called on Grand Secretary Bro. W. B. Steel to present the General Efficiency Shield to the lodge. A.D. Bro. A. Fowler replied on behalf of the lodge. The entertainment of tho evening was supplied by Bro. Curreri, Bro. R. Morris, Bro. J. Carohn, Bro. Rankin, and Bro. Fowler. The toast list was honoured as follows:—■ “U.A.0.D.,” by Arch Druid Bro. A. Fowler; “The Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland,” by the Arch Druid and replied to by P.G.P. Bro. T. Johnston; “Tho D.P. s Nos. 1 and_ 2 Districts,” by M.C. Bro. C. Carolin, and freplied to by D.P. Bros. Shepherd and T. Clarke; “Tho Efficiency Judges,” by Bro. R. Morris, and replied to by P.D.P. Bro. A. Rundle and P.D.P. Bro. J. Patterson: “ The Royal Arch Chapter,” by P.D.P. Bro. R. Hughes, and replied to by Director of Ceremonies Bro. R. Carr; “The Visitors,” by P.A. Bro. H. A. Green and replied to by Arch Druid Bro. Davies, of Otago Lodge; “Old Members,” by P.A. Bro. J. Robinson, and replied to by P.A. Bro E. Thompson, P.A. Bro. Gordon Trimell, P.A Bro. H. Winter, and P.D.P. Bro. R. Morris. P.G.G. Bro. Ben Reid also addressed the lodge. The fortnightly meeting of Mistletoe Lodge was held on Tuesday last, when Arch Druid Bro. H. J. Smaill presided over a good attendance of members. G.P. Bro. D. Young and officers and members of the Board of Management attended officially, and were received with musical honours. Correspondence included the_ judge’s report on the General Efficiency Competition, and the secretary was instructed to send a letter of congratulation to the winning lodge, Lily of the Valley, also letters of appreciation to the judges. Following the unanimous request of the officers and members, P.A. Bro. H. Smaill announced his intention of being a candidate for the position of the District President, No. 2 District. Interesting addresses were delivered by the G.L. officers as follows:—G.P. Bro. Young, ‘ National Health Insurance and General/ ; G. Treas. Bro. E. L. Birt, ‘ Finance ’; G.G. Bro. A. J.
