That summer golf is likely to become a popular pastime with members of the Balclutha Golf Club was evidenced this week, when about 30 members attended a meeting convened to discuss the matter of forming a summer club. Mr G. J. Kelly occupied the chair, and the meeting*was a most enthusiastic one. After a general discussion it was decided to run the club continuously through the summer months, the fee to he 10s and to he paid by January 31. It was decided to have the links cut this month and to keep all nine holes open. A committee comprising Messrs Kelly, J. Clark, and Jamieson, with the secretary, was set up to conduct the affairs of the summer club. The secretary (Mr A. K. Baxter) intimated that there was already a definite membership of 45, with an increase likely. It was decided that the course to be played be holes 1,2, and 3, back to 1, Hawthorne, Saddle, Waterloo, Pines, and the eighteenth. Club night will be Thursday, when competitions for trophies will be played, while on Saturdays competition play will also be indulged in, and arrangements are also to bo made for other competitions, while an endeavour is to be made to arrange matches with St. Clair and other outside clubs.
