WEATHER FORECAST
FAIR AT FIRST The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Haifmoon Bay:— The anti-cyclone from the Tasman Sea is now located over the North. Island, but has lost intensity. A moderate westerly depression, covers south-eastern Australia, and extends across the South Tasman. Forecast: Moderate to strong north-west to westerly winds. Weather fair at first, but cloud increasing and scattered rains developing, more especially in western and southern parts. Temperatures mild. Seas becoming rough about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate. OVERCAST AT NOON, This week’s weather has been notable for extreme changes—days of sunny warmth and cold, threatening conditions. The morning to-day was ushered in with bright sunshine, but noon brought an overcast sky and another possible change to wet weather later in the afternoon. However, the barometer had a rising tendency at 29.95 at that period, and there was an absence of the gusty south-west wind. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 60.5 deg and_ 53.5 deg respectively, and the recordings for yesterday were 56deg and 37deg. Ther* was no rain yesterday.
