CONFERENCE OPENER BY LARY GALWAY [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, November 4. Tlio Plunket Society Conference wa? opened by Lady Galway this morning, Mrs James Begg (Dominion .president) introducing her. Lady Galway spoke of the wonderful work accomplished by the society for motherhood and the natiorf, and the debt of the whole English-speaking race to Sir Truby King. She stressed the value of conferences, as every movement had to be kept up to date. Conference expressed its sense of obligation to Sir Truby King, and regret at his inability to attend. Lady Galway presented Mrs Joseph M'George, ex-Dominion president, with a handsome illustrated history of the society’s work as a tribute to her long and valuable services, and several speakers spoke highly of Mrs M'George’s association with the movement. The President, in her address of welcome to delegates, referred to the many losses sustained by the society during the year, and mentioned particularly the death of Mrs W. B. Benley, Lady Lockhart, Lady Luke, Miss Pattrick, and Mrs A. F. Wright. Conference placed on record appreciation of the work of Lady Sidey, who recently relinquished the position of acting Dominion president.
