BRIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
MONTAGUE SHOW AT HIS MAJESTY'S Already the Bertram Montague Company has established itself firmly in favour in Dunedin as one of the brightest variety shows staged here for a long time past, and another large audience thoroughly appreciated the company’s prcsentatio.il of ‘ Let’s Go Places ’ at His Majesty’s Theatre last night. The entertainment comprises racy vaudeville, delightfully witty and original sketches, clever solo items, and snappy ballets, combining spectacle and quality, the excellent work of the principals and able support from tbe other performers being features of a most attractive show. The company’s principal comedian is Mr George Doonan, and his refreshing stylo and original humour assisted materially in the enjoyment of the performance. He is well supported by Mr Jimmy Jewell and Mr Ben. Warriss. ‘ Winter Time in Norway ’ provides the Darmora Troupe of dancers, headed by Madame Darmora, with an opportunity to display its ability. It is a brilliant combination whose work was greatly appreciated by the large audience. A clever - and bright interlude is provided by the Dawn Sisters, a pair of burlesque dancers, and Miss Alma Mackie and the Two Rogues also contribute to the dancing side of the show. Miss Catherine Stewart and Miss Margaret Kelly gave several pleasing vocal numbers, and the Blenders, a male quartet. were also responsible for several delightful musical interludes. ‘ Let’s Go Places ’ will be presented nightly, and there will be a complete change of programme on Saturday.,
