DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE AN IMPROVED UNDERTONE SHARP RISE IN AUSTRALIAN MINING STOCKS Influenced by the brighter tone overseas, the local market finished better this morning with substantial gains recorded in Australian mining stocks, • All issues in this section advanced and monopolised business. Australian industrials tended to improve, but banks remained uncertain. Other sections generally held late rates with little marked change. Banks generally held late rales, hub New Zealands weakened to buyers £2 3s 6d, vendors answering 6d away. Unions had another reported transaction at £9 10s, final sellers rising to £9 12s. Insurances were firm at recent prices. Goldsbrough, Morts were marked down to holders at £1 13s 6d, buyers not responding. Australian industrials tended to improve. Broken Hill Proprietaries rose to a market between £3 15s 9d and £3 16s 6d, while G. J. Coles gained Is. Anthony Horderns were the only shares to slip. Taranaki Oils finished with a wider market between 6s lOd and 7s 3d. Substantial gains were recorded in Australian mining stocks. Broken Hill Souths gained 2s to business at £2 Os Bd, Mount Lyells advanced 6d, Mount Morgans 6d, North Broken Hills Is 6d, while Electrolytic Zincs were also marked up.
