PRISONERS’ APPEALS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 14 The sentence imposed on James W illiam Kcnnington at Christchurch bv Mr Justice Northcroft of three years imprisonment with hard labour on charges of breaking and entering and the \ conversion of a motor car was varied by the Court of Appeal to-day to three years’ reformative detention. A like variation of a sentence to three years’ reformative detention in respect of similar offences was made in the case of Henry Joseph Abbott Lomax, who was sentenced at Christchurch. A declaration that he was an habitual criminal, imposed on Jack Harry Payne, of Wellington, was cancelled by the court on the ground that further facts had been brought before it and taking into account the prisoner s youth.
