There were also widespread floods in France, where water swept over the cemetery at Salau and washed out coffins and skeletons, which were carried for 16 miles. Twenty-three houses at St. Girons were undermined by water, and collapsed. RAILWAY LINE DESTROYED ROME, October 7. (Received October 8, at 8 a.m.) Five members of one family were killed by a landslide, which crushed a farmhouse in the district of Pistoia. The railway line from Rome to Milan was destroyed between Pistoia and Poretta.
