WEATHER FORECAST
FINE AT FIRST-RAIN LATER The following weather forecast' .was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay;An anti-cyclone is now crossing th» northern portion of the Dominion, while a shallow depression is advancing across: the south Tasman , Sea. Forecast: Moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather mainly fair to fine, but clouds increasing and rain, developing later, especially jh coastal areas. Temperatures mild. Seas rather 1 rough to rough in the western area, elsewhere slight to moderate, hut increasing. ’■ STILL WARM AND SUNNY. A heavy dew formed in Dunedin last evening. This morning,, with, 'barometric. pressure rising to 30in at .noon, there remaining steady, conditions-were again excellent, with bright and warm sunshine, a clear sky, and only a slight cooling north-easterly breeae. Temperatures maintained their moderately high level, the maximum and minimum readings at midday being 55 and 50.5 deg, as compared with 61 and 40deg yesterday over a period' of 24 hours. Every indication was given that the afternoon and evening would be pleasant.
