Lean, manager of the Melbourne Stadium, offering £1,250 as a guarantee to the winner of th« British Empire championship contest between Earl M'Cready, the present holder of the title, and “ Lofty ” Blonw field, of Auckland. The executive of th« Auckland Association decided to reply offering the larger guarantee of £1,500 for a similar match in Auckland.
