Paul Codes, an Air France four-engined Farman land plane established a record west-to-east South Atlantic crossing from Natal (Brazil) to Dakar in 14n 27min. The previous best crossing was also made by a Farman machine in 14h 40min. Captain Codos carried 5271 b of mail and averaged 134 miles an hour, against head winds.
