FRENCH AIR RACE
SUPERIORITY OF ITALIAN PLANES BITTER COMMENT IN PARIS Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 23. (Received August 24, at 10 a.m.) The Paris ccorrespoudenb of ‘ The Times ’ says the striking superiority of tho Italian planes, which were equipped with Alfa-Romeo engines, over tho French aeroplanes in tho Istros air race has aroused bitter comment. Though the French aeroplanes were commercial and tho Italian military, tho result is regarded a severe lesson in lack of preparation and co-operation. Inferior material is blamed by tho Right Press, which declares that Franco’s best pilots were betrayed by defects duo to Socialist direction by tho Air Ministry and Socialist Labour legislation.
