WAITAKI OLD BOYS
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the Waitald High School Old Boys’ Association was held last night, tho president (Mr R. H. Hill) being in the chair. Discussion regarding the capitation of branches was raised by Mr Francis (Dunedin), who considered that, in view of the fact that some branches forwarded very small capitation fees, it might be advisable to incorporate in next year’s balance sheet the financial position of all branches.—Agreed to. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected: — Patron. Mr F. Milner; president, Mr R. H. Hill (Christchurch; vice-presi-dents—Messrs L. D. Hudson (Dunedin), C. J. L. Mollison (Oamaru), and W. Gibb (Timaru) ; auditor, Mr C. G. Moikle; Hall of Memories Committee— Messrs F. Milner, A. W- Moss, A. J. Grave, W. Atkinson, R. H. Hill, C. J. L. Mollison, F. Jones, T. L. Roberts, M. K. M'Culloch, H. B. M'Dowell, A. C. Piper. Mr Hill referred to the wonderful performances of the Waitaki first fifteen this season, particularly against Timaru and Christchurch, stating that these reflected great credit on tho members and the coach.—lt was decided to forward a letter to the rector (Mr P. Milner) expressing the appreciation and congratulation of old hoys. FOUNDERS’ DAY. Tho Chairman stated that every effort was being made to celebrate Founders’ Day on a larger scale this year, and ho urged all old boys to support the association in its efforts. Mr Milner had kindly arranged to hold the annual sports gathering on the Saturday of the reunion celebrations, and the committee was endeavouring to hold a series of functions on the two days. The school had a reputation which was not only Dominion wide, hut also world wide; therefore it was only fitting that old hoys should assist in making the function an annual jubilee celebration, similar to that which obtained on the occasion of tho jubilee of the school in 1933. It was pointed out that an endeavour would bo made to complete tho Hall of Memories shortly. The work of completing the seating accommodation would he costly, but it was hoped that all branches would co-operate. Tho endowment fund was in a satisfactory position, although some difficulty was being experienced in collecting premiums. Votes of thanks were passed to the auditor, the executive, and the Press.
