Awatca sailed on July 31 from Sydney for Auckland, where she arrived on August 3. Sho will leave again tomorrow for Sydney, where she is clue on August 0. Mouowai left Sydney on August 3 for Wellington, where sho is clue tomorrow.

A,liter having been laid up at Wellington for nearly four mouths, Holm and Co.’s motor ship Holmglen left lasfc Saturday night for Onekaka on her first trip since she has been re-engined. She is due hero on Saturday. Tho Holmgleri’s new engine is an Atlas-Polar Diesel of 450 horse-power, which is more than double that of hexoriginal 220 h.p. engine, and on her trials oxx Saturday attenxoon she averaged 9-J knots, compared with her prevxous speed of knots, in addition to being re-engined, the Holmglen has been .thoroughly overhauled) and has had new Diesel-driven cargo winches fitted. Captain, ADArthur is again ( in command of the Holmglen. Built in Germany in 1923, the Holmglen, ex Argus, has a gross tonnage of 448, and was bought by Holm and Co. Ltd. in 1935. SWEDISH LAID-UP TONNAGE. Statistics of laid-up tonnage compiled by the.. Swedish Shipowners Association show; that the total deadweight more than doubled durixxg .May. Twenty-eight vessels, of 54,109 tons gross or 86,933 tons deadweight, were idle on June 1, compared with 33 vessels, of 34,270 tons gross or 40,125 tons deadweight, on May 1, arid 60 vessels, of 55,538 tons gross or 73,144 tons d.w., on April 1. NORWEGIAN TANKERS SOLD. Concordia and Thelma. Two well-known Norwegian tankers, the Concordia (5,545 tons gross) and tho, Thelma (5.578 tons gross), have been sold to Japan for more than £30,000 each. CANADIAN CRUISER REORTS. Tho New Zealand Slapping Company has received a wireless message from the M.-A.-N.Z. Lino steamer Canadian Cruiser, en route from Port Alfred, reporting that sho expects to reach Auckland at noon to-morrow. Siie will later proceed to Australia to complete discharge. NORFOLK AT AVONMOUTH. Cabled advice has been by tho Federal Company that Norfolk , reached Avonmouth last Friday morning. Sho loft Lyttelton on June 18 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow via Cape Horn and Montevideo. Tho Norfolk is not calling at London, and her cargo for that port will bo transhipped.
