ZIONIST CONGRESS
BIG ISSUES INVOLVED PALESTINE REPORT CHIEF ISSUE Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 3. “ The Enrich Zionist Congress, which will bo attended by 460 delegates from 50 countries, will bo opened to-day,” says the Zurich correspondent of ‘The Times.’ “The'chief issue is the Royal Commission’s Palestine partition plan, on which keen and even violent discussions aro expected. Dr Weizmann, president of the Hebrew University in Palestine, publicly appealed to the delegates not to reject the plan entirely, saying this would be unwise at a time when tho world for the first time is discussing such a term as ‘ a Jewish State.’ Preliminary conferences of the various groups indicate that the congress will reject the plan in. its present form.” MANDATE'S COMMISSION A PRIVATE SESSION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 3. (Received August 4, at noon.) The Mandates Commission held a further private session at Geneva. It is understood it questioned Mr OrmsbyGore particularly regarding the 1936 disturbances, the police and military organisations, and the measures taken to restore public order.
