COLD AND CHANGEABLE The following weather forecast waa issued at noon, by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, covering the southern districts —Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton. Orepuki. Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— Yesterday’s depression has passed eastward off the Dominion, and barometers have risen somewhat. An intense anti-cyclone is advancing across Southern Australia, but- secondary depressions are still apparently moving over the South Tasman Sea. Forecast; Moderate to strong winds between west and south-west prevailing; weather cool and changeable, with occasional showers at most places;, seas moderate, ’but becoming rough at tunes about Foveaux Strait. COLD AFTER RAIN. Light rain fell in Dunedin early this morning, .05in being recorded at the Gardens until 9 o’clock, when the fall had ceased, and the sky was clear, with bright sunshine. ' There was, however, a cold south-westerly wind blowing, which lowered the temperatures to some extent, the respective maximum, and minimum readings at noon, when barometric pressure in the- city was rising at 29.76 in, being 45deg and 44deg. Every indication was given at this-time that a further improvement would take place this afternoon, with warmer temperatures. Yesterday, over a period of 24 hours, the thermometer registrations were 53.7 deg and 34.9 deg, there having been sdeg of frost lest evening.
