The intention of tho Government.to redeem its promise to the people by bringing down legislation during the coming session for the purpose of reinstating three-year Parliaments was mentioned by the Prime Minister (Mr Savage) in an interview to-nfght. The life of the last Parliament was extended to four years by the previous Government, which also passed legislationproviding for permanent extensions to four years. •. Mr Savage said that the Government objected to the method adopted to extend fho life of Parliament from three to. four years, and not to the actual period 'for which' Parliament had been elected. “ Any . change made by this Government in the term of Parliament will be made with the consent of the people,” tho Prime Minister said.
