the next conference [Pek United Phess Association.] AUCKLAND, July 2;l. A second conference of national sports bodies interested in the proposal to form a National! Council of Sport lias been convened by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon, A\. Iv Parry) for August 5, at Parliament Buildings. Wellington. , _ , The plan was first broached by Mr Parry last November, and a conference of representatives of 2.5 Dominion and Wellington sports bodies was held on March 4. The Minister explained his proposals in general terms, stating that the object was co-ordination and the sensible national direction of sport in the interests of the physical and mental health of the people. He mentioned particularly the control of sports grounds, swimming baths, and gymnasia. and provision for instruction and physical education. The _ delegates agreed that their respective bodies should consider the question and submit definite schemes to the Minister, who would call a second conference later. Mr Parry said the sectional reports which had been sent to him provided a wealth of material for discussion, ami the interest which the different bodies had shown made him confident that a good result would be achieved.
