BOWLING
CALEDONIAN CLUB The annual meeting of the _ Caledonian Bowling Club was held in the club’s pavilion last night. There was a large attendance of members, presided over by Mr J. D. Cameron. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the Chairman said that the past season would be remembered as one of the worst experienced by the club for a number of years. The wet w.eather deprived members of a good deal of play, hut such games as they were able to take part in had proved thoroughly enjoyable. On account of the increase in membership it had been, possible to enter 15 rinks for the Saturday competition, and, in addition, the club had been represented in the centre’s four-rink and singlcrink championships. Every member would agree that the selector had done his work well, and had used every endeavour to choose the best possible players to represent the club in these fixtures. It was fortunate that during the season there had been an accession of 22 new members, and, while most of these were first-year players, they had all shown up well in competition. The club’s competitions had been played at times under wretched conditions, but the games nevertheless had been keenly contested. Mr Cameron went on to extend congratulations to Mr J. Seddon, whose rink was runner-up in the Easter tournament, and to Mr W. G. Lloyd, who had skipped the rink that was runner-up in the tournament. He also congratulated the winners of the various club competitions. La con-clusion,-the speaker paid a tribute-to the members through whose enthusiasm and energy the reconstructed pavilion and its furnishings were completely free of debt. Thanks were also due to the treasurer (Mr B. C. Procter) and the secretary (Mr L. J• Edwards), who, with a particularly hard-working executive, had given valuable service throughout the year. Mr H. A. Newall seconded the motion. ' , Mr E. Clancy spoke to the motion, and urged the revival of the colts competition. ' ~ _ The President assured Mr Clancy that it was proposed to hold a colts competition during the forthcoming season, and mentioned that a member had given two prizes for this event.
