PURE MILK SUPPLY
ITS IMPORTANCE IN MAINTAINING HEALTH PASTEURISATION AS A PREVENTATIVE [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 29. Interesting comments on tubercu-.. losis as it affects humans and animals were made by Dr T. D. Stout when addressing tho New Zealand branch of the Veterinary Association to-day. Dr Stout, who is president of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, referred to tho important part a pure milk supply played in maintaining the health of tho community, and in this connection said that tho mixing of tho milk of many cows and many herds lessened the risk, and where milk was pasteurised, as well as mixed, tho risk must be non-existent. Ho also felt that all cows from which milk is utilised for human consumption should bo periodically subjected to a tuberculin© test. If this were carried out he felt that bovine tuberculosis could he eliminated in Now Zealand and human tuberculosis much ameliorated. He mentioned also that there were other diseases spread by the means of milk from which pasteurisation acts as a preventative.
