The children’s parade on Saturday afternoon at the Fanciers’ Club’s show was most entertaining, and some outstanding; costumes and good dogs were adjudicated on by Mr Robson, the judge. A small silver cup was presented by Mr Irvine for the most original turn-out in the fancy dress section, and it was won by Miss Rhona Edwards, who was dressed as a jockey and led a very tiny black-and-tan terrier harnessed to a small sulky, complete with driver and accessories. Miss Valerie Littlewood was second. The winner in the boys’ section was Gilbert Phillips, dressed as a nigger boy, with a black dog. In the class for the best dog, the winner in the boys’ section was Charles Speight with his Airedale, and in the girls’_ Dulcie Phillips with her Pomeranian was second. Gloria Samson was the recipient of Mr Bichan’s special prize for her performing pet dog.
