RUGBY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Union was held last night, the president (Dr A. Perry) occupying the chair. REFEREE’S ACTION CONFIRMED. The action of tho referee of the second grade match Kaikorai-Ravens-bourne in awarding tho game to the former team because only six of the Ravensboume team’s players turned out was confirmed. It was also decided to request an explanation from tho Ravensboume team. SECONDARY SCHOOL FIXTURES. The Secretary of tho John M’Glashan College Club wrote stating that the college would play St. Kevin’s College at Oamnru on July 7, and St. Andrew’s College at Dunedin on August 11.— Tho dates were approved. The King’s High School was given permission to play St. Kevin’s College at Dunedin to-morrow, tho game to bo played at Tonga Park. Permission was granted the Otago High School second grade team to play Wairaate High School first fifteen tomorrow. Tho game will be played at Littlobourne. REQUEST HELD OVER. It was decided to hold over in tho meantime a request from the Ashburton Union for a match with Otago. GENERAL. Tho South Otago Club wrote inquiring whether a match could be arranged with a South Otago representative B team and a junior representative team. —Declined. SOCCER MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Tho Management Committee of the Otago Football Association met last night, Mr M. K. Haig presiding. TRANSFERS. Tho New Zealand Council wrote granting the transfer of D. Paul (Petone) to Roslyn-Waikari. An application for the transfer of W. Singleton (Northern) to Seacliff was referred to the Transfer Committee. TONGA PARK. Reconstruction of tho question of playing first grade matches at Tonga Park was requested by the Caversham Club, which viewed the proposal with concern, as it would bo affected finanC * Mr M. G. MTnnes, on behalf of the Match Committee, said it was intended to use Tonga Park for first grade matches only when Caversham was playing away from its home ground. The club also drew attention to the small quarters allotted it in the pavilion, and it was decided to take this matter up with the City Council. SEACLIFF MATCHES. A request was made by the Seacliff Club that its next match be played at Seacliff, to fit in with the Rugby draw Mr MTnnes said Seacliff and Mosgiel were due to play next Saturday, but the committee decided earlier in the season that this match should be played on a Dunedin ground. The committee decided to substitute for next Saturday tho draw originally fixed for July 10. CONDITION OF GROUNDS. Submitting the Ground Committee’s reports on the various grounds, Mr F. Ball stated that most of the playing areas were in poor condition, and that little improvement could be expected this year unless there was a change in tho weather. Two of the grounds were m a deplorable state, one of which was on the Oval and the other the Mornington area. An improvement, however, had been effected at tho Oval by making only two playing areas instead of three, and with regard to Tonga Park, ho suggested the shifting of the goal posts, as .discussed with the caretaker, would help considerably.
