ILLEGAL OPERATION CHARGE [Pee United Peess Association.] AUCKLAND, June 28. “ There are no unusual circumstance! in the case to warrant me granting bail. Bail is refused,” said Mr Justice Reed, in the Supreme Court, when an application for release on bail of Doro« thy Baker, a married woman, was inada by Mr M. Robinson, with whom wa« associated by A. V. Fraer, counsel fop Mrs Baker. The accused appeared ia the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday] last on two charges, one of aiding in' the performing of an illegal operation and the other of counselling a similar offence. She pleaded not guilty, ami was committed for trial at the next criminal sessions of the Supreme Court, ( bail being refused.
