BRILLIANT MARCUS SHOW
VAUDEVILLE AT ITS lEST The Marcus Show presents the best type of vaudeville ever seen here, and packed houses have greeted each performance with spontaneous enthusiasm.; Another capacity audience saw thia vivacious show last night at His Majesty’s and revelled in the gaiety, of the entire presentation. The luxurious stagings balance the charm of - the ballet’s Trackings, and certainly ■ enhance the appeal of the show, apart’ altogether from the merit of the -acts. The breathless speed with which each' follows the other is a triumph of skill on the part of the 'stage management. ‘ La Vie Paree ’ will be shown for the last occasion to-night. ‘ BROADWAY VANITIES.* If northern seasons can be relied upon, ‘ Broadway Vanities,’ which will be staged on Monday, should see a further brilliant season for the Marcus Show in Dunedin. i Although the new. revue will present a complete change,it is said to have all the features which made such a sensation in the earlier production. There will be the same type of comedy, ballets, and settings of spectacular brilliance and vivid colour, the same lovely girls in a different but equally fascinating series of frocks, and the same clever specialty artists, presenting a variation of their previous performances. Ben M‘Ateo carries the burden of most of the comedy, and the sparkle and spontaneity of his “ wise-cracks ” have a flavour and a sauciness that adds to the intrinsic value of their wit. M‘Ateo is a comedian with a breezy personality that makes an immediate appeal. ' Ho is supported in his role of chief jester by a clever band of assistants m Bob Dyer, Dorothy Coudy, Georgine Millar,; Ha Cha San, ‘Lee Mason, Sparky Kaye, Lillian M'Coy, and Harold Boyd. Tho dancing is delightful and apparently, inexhaustible in its variety. Leon Miller, of the nimble feet, the smuouar Sharon de Vries, the dancing Bemays,Sylvia Lee, and A 1 Ricker look after this department of the show with an efficiency seldom equalled in the ©x« perience of New Zealand theatre-goers.-The spectacular effects are achieved by the employment of almost every known artifice of the theatre.
