NATIONAL DAIRY CONFERENCE
REMIT AGAINST GOVERNMENT MARKETING LOST SC3PE FOR FARM AND DOMESTIC WORKERS [Per United Press Association.] ‘HAMILTON, June 25. The conference of the National Dairy Federation which was concluded at Hamilton to-day, was described by the chairman (Mr A. Morton) as extremely successful. To-day’s programme was taken jip with addresses by Mr A. H. Cockayne, DirectorGeneral of Agriculture, and Mr W. A. Phillips, chairman of the directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association. It was decided to urge the Government to introduce an improved system of grading, and to urge the imposition of a levy to cover the costs of paying a premium for finest quality baconers. The general tone of the conference in regard to tho guaranteed price was conciliatory, and a remit moved by a delegate—“ That the conference protests on principle against the assumption by the Government of the marketing of dairy produce ” was lost by a large majority.
