“ J.A.S.” —(a) There is no need to cut down chrysanthemum plants at any period of their growth. That is a very old system and certainly out of date. Advice will bo given in season as how to keep the plants dwarf, (b) The gladiolus bulbs or corns should he divided and only single conns planted, (c) All suckers should be removed from flowering apple. No pruning is required except to keep the tree in shape, and also the tips from sweeping the ground. “St. Kilda.”—Clavarias: Sometimes named the coral fungi as it resembles beautiful pieces of coral. “ Salsify.”—The salsify when grown from seed should have been thinned out to a single plant as you would parsnips You will find wnen transplanting that there will be no need to divide the roots as the young seedlings will be like small parsnips. The only thing required before planting is to shorten the tip, and the crown of the plant should not be covered over entirely.
