Operating 43 motor vehicles employing 85 men, the Highways Transport Company Ltd, with headquarters at Palmerston North, one of the largest operators of road freight services in New Zealand, has intimated to the Government that it is prepared to meet the latter’s purchasing officers any time after July 1, and that when their investigation of the position is completed, it will be prepared to consider an offer by the Government for the acquisition of its fleet and service.
