• —Vice-regal.— The Governor-General (Viscount Galway) yesterday visited the State coal mines and various schools on the West Coast. He left Greymouth to-day for: Christchurch. Staff Sergeant-major W. R. C. Whyte, N.Z.P.S;, left to-day for Duntroon. The death took place, at , her residence, Greytown, this morning of Mrs Harriet Elizabeth Knell, widow of the Rev. Amos Knell, at the age of 10T years.—Press Association. Constable D. R. Sughrue', of St. ; Bathans, has been transferred to Dunedin as a probationary sergeant. Sergeant D. Austin, who has been stationed with the Dunedin Police Force for the past two years and ahalf, has been transferred to Auckland. A British Official Wireless message from Rugby announces that the King has approved the appointment of Mr E. C. D. Rawlins, commercial counsellor at Berlin, to be His Majesty's Envoy, Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at La Paz, succeeding Mr T.Morris, who will shortly retire. Latest guests at the Grand Hotel are: Mr L. F. Falls (London), Mr and Mrs Win. Anderson, Mr W. L. Kilner (Christchurch), Mr Stuart C. Taylor. (Wellington). Mr J. Partridge (Waimafe), and Mr S. Henderson (Invercargill) .
