The sole survivor is Dr Ulrich Luft, of Munich, who telegraphed from Gilgit that he was safe and well, and was not involved in the disaster. , Details of the disaster are _ still awaited from Major Kirkbridge, British political agent at Gilgit, who went to the spot after telegraphing the first news. [A previous message stated: An avalanche overwhelmed the German Nanga Parbat expedition, killing seven climbers and nine Gurkha porters, but th# : leader (Herr Wien) escaped.]
