SUPPLY OF WATER
COST TO NEARBY BOROUGHS INCREASE PROPOSALS DISCUSSED A conference was held yesterday afternoon between the Water Committee of the City Council and representatives of the boroughs of St. Hilda, Green Island, and' West Harbour to discuss the council’s proposal to increase the water charge to the boroughs from 6d to Is 6d per thousand gallons. The charge now being made is fixed by Act, in preference to having an amendment passed, the City Council is desirous of reaching an amicable settlement with -the boroughs. The fact is that water is now being supplied to the outside areas at under cost.
No finality was reached yesterday, and the proposals of the committee will be further discussed at another conference.
