(Received June 22, at 11 a.m.) The disappointing result of the Australian loan is not. surprising in view; of the unsettled state of the gilt-edged market. The . Australian Associated Press financial writer points out that the hulk of the original loan passed into the hands of the short-term market, which meant that the conversion issue had to attract fresh applicants, which is most difficult at the moment. The loan opened at 10s discount. The underwriters are believed to have been left with 53 per cent.
