SOUTHLAND LISTENERS
A LEAGUE FORMED. NEW STATION IN TWELVE MONTHS [Per United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, June 21., Southland is to. have » new radio station in 12 months’ time. _ This information, which was received from the Acting Minister of Broadcasting (the Hon. F. Jones) by Mr W. M. C. Denham, M.P., was announced at a public meeting called to-night to discuss a proposal to form a Southland Listeners’ League, . . Gratification that the Government had decided ,on this step was expressed, tempered l with regret that the station would not be. provided for a year, life was unanimously decided that a Listeners’ League .should be i formed and that improvement of the present broadcasting service for 'Southland should be one of its main objectives.
