NO DECISIONS IN SIGHT
TRANSPACIFIC SHIPPING PROBLEMS IMPERIAL CONFERENCE DISCUSSIONS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 9. (Received June 10, at 10 a.m.) The committee of the Imperial Conference dealing with transpacific shipping met immediately after breakfast to endeavour to make headway and to, avoid l the possibility of the discussions extending after termination of the conference. However, there are still no decisions in sight. The delegates in the afternoon will confer with Sir Edward Beatty, chairman of the Canadian Pacific Line. One of the major difficulties of the moment is that substantially higher expenditure would he involved in new ships compared with the original estimates as the result of increased ship building costs. The difficulty _ also remains of reconciling the shipping companies and l Government experts’ figures.
