Tho Wellington Presbytery of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church approved tho General Assembly proposal to recognise divorce on tho grounds of sexual vice, extreme cruelty, habitual drunkenness, and wilful desertion. Other decisions wore that refusal to comply with an order for restitution of conjugal rights, three years’ desertion, and insanity wore not adequate grounds for divorce. _ In cases recognised as adequate grounds, only the innocent parties could be remarrie'd. I t was agreed _ that presbyteries should set up committees to which doubtful cases could be referred. 1 Tho Presbytery will discuss nokt meeting whether to press for the universal practice of civil marriage, with a religions service to be added where desired.
