WEDDING
MACKAY—VIVIAN. A wedding of considerable interest was solemnised at Trinity Methodist Church on the afternoon of Saturday, May 15, when Elizabeth Rule Barr, only daughter of Mrs E. Vivian, Cannongate, Dunedin, was married to Janies Angus Mackay, youngest son of Mrs K. Mackay, Morrell street, Invercargill. The Rev. L. B. Neale was the officiating minister and Mr Frank Cawley presided at the organ. The church was tastefully decorated with lemon and bronze chrysanthemums by friends of the bride. The bride, entering the church escorted by her brother, looked exceptionally chai-ming in a graceful gown of deep cream lace over satin, cut to fall into a short train. Long billowy sleeves of georgette were a feature of tho gown. A beautifully embroidered veil held in place by a coronet of seed pearls andi orange blossoms, fell in graceful folds into a long train. She carried a sheaf of arum liles and white narcissi. The bridesmaids, Miss Jenny M Lean and Miss Cosy Mackay, wore frocks of buttercup marocain cut on severe lines, with full sleeves, finished with a row of buttons down the back. Pleated coronets of lemon silk net, lemon mittens, andl silver shoes completed tljeir ensembles. They both carried bouquets of autumn-tinted chrysanthemums and Japanese laterns. The flower girl, Dawn Vivian (niece of the bride), looked very sweet in an early Victorian ankle-length frock of frilled pale green net edged with lemon and silver over satin. Her hair was caught back by a silver headiband. She also wore silver shoes and carried a muff of green net tastefully arranged with a spray of lemon narcissi.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr H. Souness as best man and by Mr G. Nelson as groomsman. Mr J. M’Dougal acting as usher. During the signing of the register a solo was rendered by Miss R. Vivian (cousin of the bride). After the ceremony, the reception was held in the R.S.A. Club rooms when the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore an ensemble of navy blue marooain with accessories to tone and a shoulder spray of lemon narcissi. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a black frock, coat, and_ accessories to tone, and a spray of pink roses. During the breakfast, songs were, rendered by Miss M‘Lean. When tho happy couple left for the north the bride was wearing a blue wool frock, blue hat, ; coat, and accessories to tone. Before her marriage she was the guest of honour "at several parties given by her many friends. Mr and Mrs Mackay’s future home will be in Invercargill.
