Ml NAMED ENTHUSIASM REGARDED AS ARTIFICIAL. Treat Association—By Telegraph—Copyright TOKIO, May 1. The Diet elections met with apathy. The general feeling is that the appeal to the country is artificial. The early figures suggest an “ As you were ” position, the antl-Government Liberal (Mineeito) and Agrarian (Seiyukai) parties maintaining the dominating position with SO per cent, of the seats. The chief change consisted of the Socialists doubling their strength, with 40 seats.
FINAL STATE OF PARTIES TOKIO, May 2. , (Received May 3, at 2 p.m.) Tlie final election results show that '"the Mass Party- (Labour) won 19 additional seats, but the general line-up of Parliament is practically unchanged, indicating further trouble for tie Hayashi Cabinet. The state of the parties is as follows: Minseito 179 Seiyukai 175 Social Mass 37 Showkai (Government members) 19 Others .. 46
