Sir George Paish, in the course of an address, said . that Britain and the United States, holding three-quarters of the world’s gold, were forcing the rest of the world to do without it. If they continued other nations would learn to get along without it, and thus render - gold worthless. He predicted a war for the possession of South America unless the capital andcredit markets were reopened.
