MESSAGE OF GOODWILL

GREAT BRITAIN AND FRANCE NEW AMBASSADOR STRESSES NEED FOR CLOSE UNION (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, April 29. When Sir Eric Phipps, the new British Ambassador, presented his credentials to President Lebrun yesterday he delivered a message of cordial goodwill from the King to France. The Ambassador spoke of the common desire for peace in France and Britain, and declared that the close union of the two countries was more than essential for the consolidation of that end. M. Lebrun warmly reciprocated these sentiments, and expressed his personal pleasure at the return to France as Ambassador of a diplomat so well known and affectionately appreciated there.
