PILOTS FOR PICTURES
A British newsreel, which is shown : n more than 1,700 theatres in Great Britain, has engaged six famous pilots to fly special copies of its Coronation film to all the large cities and towns on the afternoon of May 12. These nilots are Mrs Beryl Markham and Messrs Mollison, Scott, Brook, Llewellyn, and Bose. Unless he is engaged on a flight to New York with newsreel material, it is expected that Mr Mollison will be serving Edinburgh and Glasgow (says the ‘Manchester Guardian ’); In order “ to make the flying_ more interesting” for these experienced pilots, a gold Coronation cup will he awarded to the one whose performance is judged to be the best on handicap. They will also be awarded civic receptions after the completion of their flights. It is only to be hoped that with all these arrangements the cinema will not defeat its own ends. For it must be remembered that, in the less speedy days of 26 years ago, a film of the last- Coronation was shown the same day in Paris,
