The soil for cuttings should be made up as follows: —Good fibrous loam, with well-rotted leaves or animal manure, and a dressing of clean sand, well mixed together. For potting on use good fibrous loam, rotted leaves, or animal manure, sharp sand, and old mortar rubble, with a dressing of bone meal (not blood and bone). ■ When potting the soil must be made firm around the plants.
