MR LYONS ABROAD
TWO HOURS IN PARIS INTERESTING CONTINENTAL TRIP Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 29. The special correspondent of tho Associated Press in Paris says that Mr Lyons stepped off tho train from Berno well but somewhat tired as tho result of Continental travel. He was accompanied by Mrs and Miss Lyons, and after a couple of hours in Paris they boarded the Golden Arrow for Loudon. Mr Lyons said he had greatly enjoyed the trip across the Continent, which, despite the tiring travel, gave him a respite. He often imagined he was in Australia, especially when he heard a “ cooee ” echo across a street in Stresa, where a party of Australians greeted him. Referring to his plans for the future, he said no date had yet been fixed for the elections He would return immediately after the conference. Questioned with regard to the statement that the Imperial Conference, contrary to an earlier announcement, would fully review the Ottawa agreement, he said “ we are not prepared to enter a general review of Ottawa. It is not the time for that. Nor are we prepared to make any commitments thereon. We .shall examine the Ottawa agreement but a full-dress conference on it is not necessary and any revision will be through the channels of consultation.
Mr Lyons said his Coronation honours list was completed and was bigger than usual. He exchanged greetings at Montreux with Nahas Pasha, who sent a cordial message to Australia. He made also a courtesy call on Signor Mussolini, and found him well versed in Australian affairs. He noted that the Duce’s English was now almost perfect compared with two years ago.
